Yesterday, the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units was held at the former site of Cixi Jintang School. This event was also the highlight of the series of activities of the city to celebrate the “eighth Chinese Cultural Heritage Day”. The former site of Jintang School is located in Jintang Village, Guanhaiwei Town, Cixi. It is now the site of Jintang Vocational Senior Middle School in Cixi City. When the reporter walked into the school, I saw that the whole building not only had the solemn beauty of Chinese classical architecture, but also the style of modern Western architecture. The whole house was in the regularity and without losing the charm of the original. Principal Tang Liming was proud to introduce that the school was hailed as “the crown of Zhejiang private schools”. The founder of the school, Wu Jintang (1855~1926), is a masterpiece of Dongshantou Village, Cixi City. When he was a child, he ploughed with his father, and then he went to the east, became rich in business, and was famous at home and abroad. He not only invested heavily in nation building, but also actively supported Mr. Sun Yat-sen in the Revolution of 1911, and founded a school in his hometown. In order to set up a school, Wu Jintang spent a total of 230,000 silver dollars. Later, he filed a record with the Zhejiang government, and all the descendants of the school should not intervene. Mr. Cai Yuanpei called Wu Jintang, Chen Jiageng and Nie Yuntai as "three sages in China." The main building of Jintang School is a two-storey bungalow-shaped bungalow with a total of 104 rooms and 19 mixed bungalows. There are playgrounds, gardens, reservoirs and school halls. At that time, the school also has auxiliary facilities such as power generation rooms and pump houses. . Today, the remaining two-story building with a main building and a European-style slogan is still in use. Since its establishment, Jintang School has been in existence for a hundred years. After several storms, it has been easy to name, but it has always been a string of songs and has trained a batch of outstanding talents. Such as the famous calligrapher Sha Menghai, the famous meticulous flower and bird painter Chen Zhifo, the famous agronomist Lu Shouqian, Jiangnan flute king Zhao Songting and so on. Recently, the State Council approved the publication of the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units, and the former site of Jintang School was listed among them. Xu Weiming, deputy director of Ningbo Wenbao Institute, said: "The reason why the former site of Jintang School was chosen as the representative of the newly added national security unit was because the former site of Jintang School had special significance. It was the first national security level education class in Ningbo. The ruins reflect the good deeds of the Ningbo merchants who help the patriots and love the hometown to benefit the homesickness."
